DRIVING WITH ALLEGED AUTHORIZATIONS FROM MAURITANIA AND SENEGAL

Three defendants in Teguise accused of falsifying their driver's license and a crime against road safety

The agents detected three foreign people driving with permits from Senegal and Mauritania. After a "thorough examination", they verified "the falsity" of these documents?

Agents of the Local Police of Teguise have charged three foreigners with alleged crimes of forgery in a public document and against road safety. The events date back to December 25 and January 1 and 3. In several traffic controls, the agents detected three people of foreign nationality driving motor vehicles. One of them had a Senegalese driving license, another an international license from the Republic of Senegal and the other from Mauritania.

The police stopped the vehicles so that the drivers could show their documentation. The three showed the agents their respective driving licenses, but the police suspected that they could be false. For this reason, they seized them to proceed later to carry out a "thorough examination, with optical and light means", as explained by the Teguise City Council.

The police thus verified "the falsity" of these documents and charged the drivers. The documents were sent to the Arrecife Duty Court.

The Consistory has indicated that these actions "are the result of the training received by several agents of the Local Police of Teguise in the field of copy documents and documentary falsification." The police learned to recognize the validity and authenticity of documents such as driving licenses, in a training organized by the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands.
