An Emergency device was mobilized on the night of this past Sunday to rescue a hiker on a mountain in Puerto Calero, in the municipality of Yaiza. The alert took place after 9:30 p.m.

Firefighters from the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium, agents of the Local Police of Yaiza, and technicians from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) traveled to the scene.

As reported by the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium, the Local Police of Yaiza requested assistance for a person who suffered a leg injury. The injured person was located on a path from the Secrets Lanzarote Resort hotel towards Playa Quemada.

The firefighters mobilized to the site in two 4x4 rescue vehicles.  Upon their arrival, Local Police agents and SUC technicians were already in the area attending to the person. The hiker presented pain in the left ankle, so the SUC technicians proceeded to immobilize it and the firefighters transported him on a Kong stretcher with the help of Local Police agents and SUC technicians to the ambulance.

After being transferred to the ambulance, the SUC technicians took charge of his assistance and subsequent transfer to the hospital.
