The woman who died this Tuesday on Matagorda beach in Puerto del Carmen was 63 years old and a resident of Lanzarote. Specifically, according to confirmations from the Civil Guard, the victim was a native of Teguise.

Regarding the causes of death, the Civil Guard has indicated that the autopsy will determine them, although they have specified that the body "does not present any signs of violence."

It was around 9:50 a.m. when the lifeguards providing their service on the beach were alerted that a woman was floating in the water, upon which they went to the place confirming that there was a woman with symptoms of drowning. Both the lifeguards and later the ambulance personnel performed resuscitation maneuvers, but the victim did not recover from the cardiac arrest and died.

From the Tías City Council, it was initially indicated that the identity of the woman was unknown as she was undocumented, as well as how long she had been in the water, since the lifeguard service begins at 10 a.m., now confirming that the deceased is a resident of Lanzarote.
