The 50-year-old woman found dead this Monday in a house in Punta Mujeres was an Italian police officer, according to Evelia García, Councilor for Social Welfare of the Haría City Council. "Among the documentation found in the house there was an accreditation of 'polizia', she was probably retired or on leave," the mayor explained to La Voz.

The woman had been renting in the house in Punta Mujeres for two years and "got along very well with the neighbors", adds Evelia García. According to what the neighbors told the mayor, "for two months they found her deteriorated apparently, due to the death of her mother." It was precisely the neighbors who raised the alarm on Monday when they did not see her and because of the smell coming from the house where she lived with a dog.

"The judicial police of Tías have taken charge of the case and will try to locate her relatives through the embassy so that they can take charge of the body and if not, the City Council will be in charge of doing a charity burial," explained the mayor. The body is already in the anatomical forensic institute where the autopsy will be performed to determine the causes of death.
