The small plane that arrived this week in Fuerteventura with 400 kilos of cocaine had previously landed on other occasions at that same airport and also at the one in Lanzarote. According to the newspaper La Provincia, there are at least three landings on this island in the years 2007, 2008 and 2012, although in theory only to refuel. In addition, on March 10 and March 22, the same plane also landed in Fuerteventura.
On the last occasion, on the night of last Tuesday, the small plane aroused the suspicion of the agents. Thus, after identifying the two crew members, the device was seized for inspection until the next day, given that it landed at 9:17 p.m. The two crew members were not arrested at that time and traveled to a hotel in the tourist area of Caleta de Fuste, in the municipality of Antigua, but when the agents tried to arrest them they had already left the hotel establishment.
The Civil Guard and the National Police Corps then tracked the flights that left Fuerteventura and the docks to check if they had left the island, but the result was negative. Finally, the investigations determined that they rented a private boat to leave Fuerteventura, presumably heading to Lanzarote, where with false documentation they would try to leave the island of Lanzarote, without their arrest having transpired so far.
Regarding the route followed by the small plane, on the 22nd it had already been in Fuerteventura, although in this case to load fuel and complete its route from Madrid to Guinea Conakry, then to Cape Verde and finally to Fortaleza (Brazil), where presumably he would have loaded the drug before returning to Spain. Afterwards, on the way back he made the same journey, until he was intercepted in Fuerteventura, although everything points to the fact that he still had another stop planned in a Spanish province and in several European countries to unload the drug.
