DNA test results reveal that the body in the trunk belongs to Cathaysa Rodríguez

Almost a month after the appearance of a corpse in the trunk of an abandoned car in Argana, Arrecife, the result of the DNA tests that have been carried out outside the island, due to the lack of resources on the island, have revealed the identification of the body. As the first indications of the event pointed out, it has finally been confirmed that it is the body of Cathaysa Rodríguez. An 18-year-old who resided in the capital neighborhood of Los Alonsos and who disappeared last November.

It was her mother who found the lifeless body, on April 2. The conditions in which the body was found, in an advanced state of decomposition, did not allow identification, so it was necessary to carry out DNA tests. As the first data pointed to the young Cathaysa, a sample of saliva and epithelial tissue was required from her parents for analysis.

The delay in the results has kept her mother, Esther Rodríguez, and her family on edge, who, between the hope that it was not her and the conviction that the suspicions would be confirmed, have faced an agonizing wait of almost a month.
