The National Police has concluded the special security operation established for the San Ginés 2026 festivities, held in Arrecife between August 14 and 25.
The operation was designed to guarantee the normal development of the different festive events and preserve citizen security, with special reinforcement during the massive concerts held during the festivities, which gathered more than 30,000 people.
Agents from the Operational Response Group, Citizen Assistance Group, Judicial Police, and the Prevention and Reaction Unit deployed from Las Palmas participated in the operation, with more than 50 police officers deployed simultaneously at times.
During the different preventive checks carried out throughout the twelve days of celebration, the National Police identified more than 560 people and processed 135 reports for possession or consumption of narcotic substances, 22 for possession of weapons, and four for disrespect, in application of current legislation on citizen security.
Likewise, the agents intervened in several incipient fights and brawls, managing to restore order and prevent the incidents from escalating in severity.
They also carried out six humanitarian services. As a result of the different police actions, a total of 12 arrests were made. Five of them were related to crimes against public health, while the remaining ones corresponded to incidents related to gender violence, assault against an authority agent, resistance, disobedience, and injuries.
In addition, a person with an outstanding judicial warrant was arrested. The operation allowed the different scheduled events to take place while maintaining security conditions and balancing the festive nature of the celebrations with the protection of attendees.
The National Police also highlights the general behavior of the citizens during the festivities and maintains its commitment to the protection of rights and freedoms and to the safety of those who participate in these types of massive events.
