Agents of the National Police Corps have arrested Carlos Mauricio R. A., 30 years old, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health, for dedicating himself to cultivating marijuana plants in his home in Arrecife.

The investigation began as a result of a call to the 091 Room of the Local Police Station of Lanzarote, in which they reported that in a home located in the Puerto de Los Mármoles area shouts were heard and that a case of gender violence was possibly taking place.

Once in the house, the agents of the Local Citizen Security Brigade verified that a case of mistreatment had indeed occurred, taking Carlos Mauricio as a detainee.

During the processing of the corresponding proceedings, the agents learned, through statements from the victim, that the detainee was engaged in drug trafficking and that he had several marijuana plants cultivated in his home, so the officials transferred him to the group dedicated to this type of crime.

The agents of the Narcotics Group of the Local Judicial Police Brigade seized 63 marijuana plants, as well as equipment for their cultivation, such as lamps and timers, among other things. The seized plants had a total weight of about seven and a half kilos, their value on the market being about 6,000 euros, according to the Police.

The detainee, who has a police record, has been placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority.
