The 60-year-old man who appeared drowned on Las Cucharas beach in Costa Teguise was a Canarian resident in Lanzarote. This was reported by the manager of the Security and Emergency Consortium of the island, Enrique Espinosa, in statements to La Voz.
The events occurred around 3:30 p.m. this Wednesday, when the Emergency services were alerted that there was a person floating face down 150 meters from the coast.
The Civil Guard is now considering the hypothesis that the man may have been fishing in the area of Los Ancones, that he suffered a fall into the sea and that the current dragged him to the area of Las Cucharas.
As confirmed by the Coordinating Center for Emergencies to this editorial team, upon the arrival of the operation they found the corpse of a person, with apparent signs of drowning. The beach rescue team was in charge of recovering the body and dragging it to the shore in the Los Charcos area, near the Meliá Salinas hotel. After that, the paramedics confirmed his death.
According to information from the island's Emergency Consortium and as this media has learned, the person had been in the sea for at least ten hours and suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest.
