The Local Police of Arrecife continues fighting the sale or consumption of drugs in the public spaces of Arrecife. Mandated by the mayor of the city, Yonathan de León, agents of the body have intensified control to stop the sale of drugs, and also stop their consumption in the public spaces of the capital of Lanzarote.

During this past weekend, agents of the Citizen Security and Intervention Unit (USCI), have carried out police deployments in different areas of Arrecife. A police deployment that has been accompanied by redoubling the number of troops to coincide with mass events.

Even so, according to the consistory, the Local Police "continues constantly" in these preventive deployments, and in certain interventions they come alerted by the direct information they receive from the residents of certain places.

The Local Police of Arrecife, which has managed in recent months to identify a "drug dealer" with the use of police drones, carries out its deployments with camouflaged cars and ununiformed agents, and in certain operators, such as those deployed this past weekend, with USCI troops who have tracked specific places alerted by residents.

Yonathan de León has remarked that the Local Police will be "perseverant with more deployments supported with the new equipment and material and technological means with which the Local Police has been equipped in recent months", which makes it one of the police forces in the Canary Islands with the best and most advanced means.
