The search for the young man from Lanzarote who disappeared in Fuerteventura ended this Thursday with a tragic ending. His lifeless body has been found on the neighboring island, after 24 hours of searching in the area where he was last seen, when he was swimming in the sea near the Puerto del Rosario airport. This has been confirmed to La Voz by the Canary Islands Security and Emergency Coordinating Center, which is in charge of the operation deployed in the area to find the young man.

The search began shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, when it was reported that there was a swimmer in distress in the Punta de Piedra Cal area. It was Javier Montelongo Ramos, 27 years old and residing in Arrecife, who was spending a few days on vacation on the island of Majorera. The young man was swimming in the area with some friends, who suddenly saw him sink and lost track of him.

Finally, it was the divers of the Special Group of Underwater Activities of the Civil Guard who found the lifeless body in the water, south of the area where he disappeared. Afterwards, a boat from the Cabildo of Fuerteventura was in charge of transferring the corpse to the port of Puerto del Rosario.

In addition to the GEAS divers, the search device included the helicopter of the Canary Islands Government, the Salvamento Marítimo patrol boat, a boat from the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, firefighters and members of the Civil Protection of Puerto del Rosario, as well as agents of the National Police and the Local Police.
