A wind turbine has fallen on the power line in San Bartolomé and has left several areas of the island without supply. This has been reported by the Security and Emergency Consortium this Tuesday morning.
The Consortium has already activated the company in charge of the supply, Endesa. In addition, the Local Police of San Bartolomé has already closed access to Montaña Mina and firefighters have moved to the place.
The State Meteorological Agency reports that on Tuesday morning the station located at the Lanzarote airport suffered a gust of 33 kilometers per hour of wind from the southwest.
The City Council of San Bartolomé threatened last November 2023 to go to court if the Montaña Mina wind farm is not dismantled. Specifically, the Councilor for Finance, Antonio Rocío, indicated that these mills are not municipal property and that the company has an obligation to dismantle it.
However, after several requirements, the company has not yet dismantled it. Thus, the San Bartolomé consistory stressed then that it is the General Directorate of Industry of the Government of the Canary Islands that must take charge of the dismantling if the responsible company does not do so.
