“Illegal arrest for not wearing a mask in Lanzarote”. That is the striking subtitle that accompanies the video that “deniers” are spreading to question what happened last Saturday, when a man was arrested by the Arrecife Local Police while participating in a concentration.
In reality, the images show how the man, of foreign nationality, tries to flee from the agents. Afterwards, he starts a struggle with one of them and when they try to hold him back, he gives one of the policemen a shove until he knocks him to the ground.
Finally, as La Voz reported during the weekend, the man was arrested, but not for not wearing a mask, but accused of assaulting the police officers, who claim that he had previously also rebuked them.
The concentration, which brought together just over a dozen people, was carried out under slogans such as "Stop false pandemic, Stop Covid fashion".
