The corpse of a 60-year-old man has been rescued this Wednesday afternoon from a beach in Costa Teguise. After receiving the alert that a swimmer was floating face down in the Las Cucharas area, the 1-1-2 alerted the island's Emergency devices. At around 3:30 p.m. an operation was deployed that moved to the coastal space.
As confirmed by the Coordinating Emergency Center, upon the arrival of the operation they found the corpse of a person, with apparent signs of drowning. It was the beach's lifeguard team that rescued the corpse, which was floating face down 150 meters from the coast and brought it to the shore. Specifically, his body was near the Los Charcos area, near the Meliá Salinas hotel.
After that, the sanitary personnel confirmed his death. As La Voz has learned, the person had been in the sea for at least ten hours and suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest.
The Civil Guard guarded the body of the deceased until the arrival of the judicial authority and instructed the corresponding procedures.
The firefighters of the Security and Emergency Consortium, an ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service, the Local Police of Teguise and the Civil Guard were mobilized to the place. Also the beach's lifeguard service.
