The Underwater Activities Specialists Group (GEAS) of the Civil Guard has reported nine administrative infractions in diving centers in the municipalities of Tías, Yaiza, Tinajo and Teguise, for violating the different regulations that regulate the practice of recreational sports diving.
In a statement, the Civil Guard explains that GEAS agents periodically carry out inspections in diving centers, clubs and companies dedicated to underwater activities; inspecting in the case of Lanzarote 16 diving centers, a diving club and seven diving points in their own areas from land.
Of the nine complaints, three were for not having the authorization issued by the Vice-Ministry of Fisheries of the Government of the Canary Islands for the opening of diving centers, as well as for not having or filling in the official equipment and customer control books, for which it was transferred to the Ministry of Fisheries.
Five others are related to infractions of the Decree that regulates the safety conditions that equipment must meet, and were sent to the Ministry of Economy, Industry, Commerce and Knowledge of the Government of the Canary Islands. Among the breaches, they detected that a compressor had not passed the corresponding five-year periodic inspection; that written reports of the result of the annual review and verification had not been submitted; and that certificates of the annual visual inspection had not been submitted in the diving cylinders.
In addition, a ninth complaint was sent to the Provincial Labor and Social Security Inspectorate of Las Palmas, for finding a worker at a diving center - prior to diving - without the corresponding medical examination in force.
"All complaints have been processed to the aforementioned authorities or administrative entities, responsible for the corresponding sanctioning files in accordance with the Law of Common Administrative Procedure," the Civil Guard specifies.
