The Civil Guard of Tías has opened an investigation to clarify what happened on Tuesday afternoon on the beach of Los Pocillos in Puerto del Carmen, where a man was injured with an underwater fishing harpoon. According to the first data, the injured man was diving with other people when the accident occurred, in an area where underwater fishing is not allowed.

For the moment, the affected person was still admitted this Wednesday to the Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife, where he was transferred by ambulance after the incident. There they removed the harpoon that was stuck in his leg, at the height of the knee. According to sources consulted by La Voz, the operation was carried out successfully and without causing further internal damage, and its evolution is favorable.

The Civil Guard will now identify the rest of the people who may have been involved in the events, to determine their possible responsibility both in the accident and in the practice of this activity in a prohibited area.

For its part, the Security and Emergency Consortium points out that there were a total of three people who were practicing underwater fishing in this place not authorized for it.
