The Civil Guard of the Main Post of Costa Teguise investigated on June 14 a man with the initials K.U.R. - a resident of the municipality of Arrecife and 24 years of age - as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of robbery with force and another of theft committed on agricultural farms in the towns of Soo and San Bartolomé, from where he stole both bananas and potatoes.
According to the Benemérita, the alleged perpetrator of the crimes used an all-terrain vehicle of his property, which weeks later sold to a third party, to whom he allegedly offered to sell both potatoes and bananas as well as onions.
The agents initiated the investigations as a result of complaints filed last March by the owners of the farms, who related to the agents in each case the amounts stolen.
In the case of the robbery committed in San Bartolomé, the owner of the farm reported that between March 3 and 5 someone accessed the place and uprooted the plants that he had not yet collected, estimating the amount stolen at about 400 kilograms of potatoes. And in the case of the farm in the town of Soo, the owner reported that after breaking the protective canvas of the place, someone had taken an estimated number of 30 pineapple bananas.
The investigation remains open
The agents inspected the places of the robberies and, based on the police investigations carried out, statements from witnesses and those affected, they obtained sufficiently reasonable indications to identify the alleged perpetrator of the crimes, who was located and investigated on June 14, remaining at the disposal of the corresponding Court, on guard duty, of Arrecife.
The Civil Guard affirms, however, that it is continuing with the investigation, since the detainee was seen inside one of the farms accompanied by another man and a woman, and with the all-terrain vehicle mentioned above.
It is also continuing with the investigations to detect the shops or premises that are acquiring fruits and vegetables of illicit origin, "which constitutes a crime of receiving stolen goods and that also continue those robberies and a possible public health risk, as many of those fruits are treated with phytosanitary products and the sufficient prudent time is not respected for them to be released from them", points out the Benemérita.
Theft of onions on a third farm
Finally, the Civil Guard has informed the judicial authority that the investigated person could also be the perpetrator of a theft of 300 kilograms of onions that occurred on March 6 on another farm in San Bartolomé, a crime that is still being investigated.
