Lanzarote Civil Guard agents have arrested two people who arrived on the island aboard an inflatable boat early on the morning of Wednesday, August 26, for a crime against public health.

As La Voz has learned, the two detainees arrived in Lanzarote around 7:00 AM last Wednesday aboard an inflatable boat. Initially, the manager of the Lanzarote Security and Emergencies Consortium, Enrique Espinosa, reported that it was a drug boat.

Maritime Rescue rescued the two occupants and no drugs were found on the vessel. However, Lanzarote Civil Guard agents combed the coast around Los Ancones, where they found bales of drugs.

For their part, the Emergencies Consortium indicated that the occupants, of Moroccan origin, had expressed their intention to request asylum in Lanzarote. However, they have been arrested by the Civil Guard as alleged perpetrators of this crime.
