A taxi driver was injured after running off the road and overturning his vehicle on the highway near Yaiza. The passenger in the car was unharmed in the accident, according to reports from the Emergency Consortium.
The accident occurred around 1 a.m. this Wednesday, October 15, on the LZ-2. After being alerted by the CECOES, agents from the Local Police, Civil Guard, the Emergency Consortium, and two ambulances, one medicalized and the other with basic life support, from the Canary Islands Emergency Service, were dispatched.
When the emergency services arrived, the driver was still inside the vehicle, conscious but disoriented, accompanied by a passenger who was assisting him. The officers accessed the vehicle through the passenger window, placed a cervical collar on him, and proceeded to extricate him. To do this, they opened a gap in the rear with rescue tools and immobilized him on a board before transferring him to an ambulance stretcher.
As directed by the Local Police, the firefighters recovered the personal belongings of the driver and passengers from inside the vehicle, which were handed over to the officers. Finally, the vehicle's battery was disconnected, the area was marked off, and CECOES was informed of the service closure.
