The National Police have arrested a 58-year-old man, a taxi driver by profession and with no police record, as the alleged perpetrator of two crimes of damage in Arrecife. "He scratched the cars and left a note explaining his reasons," the Police explain. The total amount of damage caused exceeded 1,200 euros.
The investigation began as a result of the complaint filed by a woman, who told the agents that after having parked her car in a parking lot in the capital of Lanzarote, when she went to pick it up she was able to verify that it had "the entire left side scratched". In the vehicle they had left a note in which could be read: "If you occupy two spaces you risk having your car scratched".
Subsequently, another complaint was filed. In this case it was also a woman, who explained that after having left her car parked in that same parking lot, when she went to pick it up, she found it "scratched all around its perimeter". In the vehicle they had also left a note, in which could be read: "If you use two spaces I'll scratch your car and next time I'll slash your four tires".
"The police efforts carried out to clarify the facts resulted in the identification and subsequent arrest of the alleged perpetrator of the damage to the vehicles," the police force points out. After preparing the corresponding report, it was sent to the competent Judicial Authority. The police intervention was carried out by agents assigned to the Arrecife Police Station.
