The Local Police of Arrecife arrested a 25-year-old young man for stealing a moped and driving it without the necessary driver's license.
Last August 28, the agents of the Local Police detected the irregular circulation of a motorcycle on Donante de Sangre street, which lacked license plates. When trying to stop the driver by means of acoustic signals and visual gestures, he disobeyed the order and fled.
In his attempt to evade the action of the agents, and due to the density of traffic in that section, the driver circulated on the sidewalks, to continue and take refuge in a community garage, where he introduced the moped and closed the door behind him. The agents, who were following him at a certain distance without losing sight of him, observed the entire maneuver.
Faced with this situation, the agents requested reinforcements and, once they were able to access the garage, they located the vehicle, although the driver was no longer in the place. As a preventive measure, the motorcycle was immobilized and transferred to the municipal depot.
The investigations carried out between August 28 and 29 allowed the agents to identify the person in charge, who resided in the building where the garage was located. In addition, after consulting the databases, it was discovered that the individual lacked a driver's license and that the motorcycle had been stolen days before.
