Spain seizes ship with about 7,000 kilos of cocaine near the Canary Islands

The haul, one of the largest seized to date in the Canary Islands region, will be transferred to the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife

The Spanish Police and Navy have seized a cargo ship in the Atlantic with a stash of about 7,000 kilos of cocaine, sources in charge of the security forces have confirmed to EFE.

The ship was located and intercepted 290 nautical miles (535 kilometers) from the Canary Islands by a police team transported by the maritime action vessel Rayo, of the Navy.

The stash, one of the largest seized to date in the Canary Islands area, will be transferred to the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife
