National Police agents in Telde have arrested six men, with no prior police record, aged between 21 and 39, as alleged perpetrators of a group sexual assault against a 19-year-old woman, inside an industrial building located in El Goro, in the municipality of Telde.
The events occurred during the early hours of March 16. The investigation began when the victim, in an evident state of alteration and bewilderment, recounted what happened to her romantic partner, who, along with the young woman's father, alerted the National Police.
The victim was transferred to the Materno Infantil Hospital of Las Palmas, where the action protocol for cases of sexual assault was immediately activated. The on-duty official from the UFAM (Family and Women's Care Unit) went to the health center to interview the young woman.
The victim stated that although she did not clearly remember all the details due to her state of semi-consciousness, as a result of the substances consumed, she could remember that she had been sexually assaulted by at least three men, without her consent.
Subsequently, the victim traveled by taxi to her partner's home, to whom she recounted what happened. During the journey, the victim confessed to him by message that "everyone had touched her." The agents in charge of the investigation quickly managed to identify the perpetrators of the events thanks to the victim's statement and the collaboration of witnesses, so they proceeded with the utmost speed to arrest the six involved.
The National Police points out that two of the six detainees, all of them of Cuban origin, were in an irregular administrative situation in national territory. After completing the police investigation, the detainees were placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority.
The importance of reporting any type of sexual violence is reminded, as well as the firm commitment of the National Police to the protection of victims.
