Several establishments in the Canary Islands sanctioned for employing undocumented workers

The National Police proposed a fine for five employees who were in Spain in an irregular situation and lacked the proper work permit

The National Police, in collaboration with the Labor and Social Security Inspectorate, has carried out an operation in different premises in the town of Puerto del Rosario, in Fuerteventura, to verify and eradicate possible illicit acts against the rights of workers, fraud against social security and human trafficking.

After steps taken by agents of the National Police, it was determined that several hotel and nightlife establishments in the capital of Majorera could have workers in an irregular situation in Spain among their staff, and in turn be committing fraud against social security as well as human trafficking.

Within the framework of this operation, a total of eight inspections were carried out in different premises and a total of 37 people were identified between managers and workers of the different companies.

As a result of these inspections, a total of three premises were sanctioned for different irregularities related to the hiring of workers, and in addition, five workers were proposed for sanction for being in Spain in an irregular situation and lacking the proper work permit.

In one of the premises, a man was arrested for a crime of resistance/disobedience to agents of the authority. In addition, in the same premises, two minors were identified, so it was closed by the Local Police of the town.
