A 28-year-old driver has been seriously injured after crashing into a tree early this Friday in Lanzarote and becoming trapped inside the vehicle. The citizen has been transferred with serious multiple trauma to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital. The events took place around 11:10 PM, on the Rambla Medular in Arrecife.

According to the Consortium of Security and Emergencies of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, the accident occurred near the Insular Library. Upon the arrival of firefighters to the area, they confirmed that it was a "high-energy" traffic accident, in which the vehicle had impacted a tree with its front part.

Canary Islands Emergency Service paramedics were attending to the injured person, the sole occupant, who was trapped inside the car.

After assessing the accident, the Emergency services managed to stabilize the vehicle and, after evaluating the injured person, due to the severity of the injuries, carried out an emergency extraction in coordination with the medical personnel.

Once the injured person was extracted and transferred to the medical services, the vehicle's battery was disconnected for safety, and the surrounding area began to be cleaned up after receiving authorization from the Local Police of Arrecife.

Two ambulances from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), one advanced life support ambulance and another basic life support ambulance, as well as firefighters from the Emergency Consortium and the Local Police, were dispatched to the scene.
