The Nature Protection Service (Seprona) of the Civil Guard of the Command of Las Palmas has investigated a veterinarian who euthanized two dogs under his own criteria considering that they presented an aggressive behavior. According to what the armed institute has reported in a statement, so far there is no veterinary report that supports or justifies that decision

The other person investigated is the sister-in-law of the owner, who would have been the one in charge of transferring both dogs, both of Cocker Spaniel breed, to the veterinary consultation on the day the  sacrifices occurred.

According to the veterinary deontological code, among the possible professional infractions are acting without the consent of the animal's owner, the performance of interventions without a clinical basis or without due medical justification, the commission of professional malpractice or the lack of adequate documentation of the procedures performed.

This type of conduct can entail suspension from professional practice, without prejudice to other possible administrative or criminal liabilities  that could arise from the facts.

The investigation remains open with the aim of clarifying what happened and determining the possible responsibilities of those involved.
