The San Bartolomé City Council held a plenary session this Wednesday in which it was approved to demand that the Government of the Canary Islands proceed "as soon as possible" to tender, award, execute and put into operation the new Playa Honda Health Center, despite the opposition's vote against. This health infrastructure, "of vital importance to the local community", has a base bidding budget of 3,499,582.46 euros.
In the event that the autonomous administration through the Ministry of Health cannot carry out the process, "as has been demonstrated so far", the City Council reiterates "its willingness to assume the competence through the signing of an inter-administrative cooperation agreement". The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, highlights that “San Bartolomé has demonstrated its solvency and capacity to manage projects of this type, as demonstrated by the awarding of the works of the new Alexis Tejera Lemes school, which has also been approved in this plenary session by the San Bartolomé City Council”.
“Once again, the opposition in San Bartolomé is not up to the needs of the residents. However, from the government group we are willing to tender, award and execute this work if the Autonomous Community allows it. This infrastructure cannot wait any longer, and our priority is to respond to the needs of the residents of Playa Honda,” says the mayor.
The plenary agreement also requests the Cabildo of Lanzarote to join this agreement, "thus reinforcing institutional support to guarantee the materialization of this essential work to improve health care in Playa Honda."
The San Bartolomé City Council reiterates its commitment to improving public services and continues working to guarantee the well-being of all citizens.
