Rally driver from Lanzarote and eight others arrested for belonging to a criminal organization

The arrested were placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority, who ordered the immediate imprisonment for eight of the nine detainees.

Arrests Made in Dismantling of Criminal Organization in Lanzarote and Gran Canaria

National Police agents have arrested nine people, residents between the islands of Gran Canaria and Lanzarote, aged between 30 and 55 years old, many of them with police records, as alleged perpetrators of crimes of belonging to a criminal organization, drug trafficking and money laundering.

The police agents initiated the investigation called Operación Cítrico on the island of Lanzarote, after observing the high standard of living of a well-known Rally driver, who was found not to be engaged in any work activity.

The police operation involved agents from both islands, who worked together, after verifying that the criminal organization used workers from logistics companies operating between both islands to hide the narcotic substances among the parcels, for subsequent distribution and delivery to the members of the gang.

During the investigation phase, it was possible to detect, locate and seize several suspicious packages inside which it was verified that they contained drugs, which were identified with a logo of a drawn lemon.

The police operation ended with 12 entries and searches, nine being carried out in Lanzarote and three in Gran Canaria, achieving the dismantling of the criminal organization composed of nine people who were arrested and with the seizure of 52 kilograms of cocaine, three kilograms of amphetamines, one kilogram of methamphetamine, a drug known as "crystal" and 15 kilograms of hashish; more than 30,000 euros in cash; in addition to the seizure of several high-end vehicles, a boat valued at 40,000 euros and a Rally vehicle for which 100,000 euros were paid, which was acquired by the alleged leader of the criminal gang.

Once the police proceedings were completed, the arrested were placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority, who ordered the immediate imprisonment for 8 of the 9 detainees.
