Playa Blanca beach has been closed to swimming this Friday. The ban has been effective during the morning in the southern town, according to the Security and Emergency Consortium.
For security reasons, the red flag has been raised on the beach due to wastewater spills. Now, specific analyses will be carried out to determine the time of reopening and access to the beach. In addition, Canal Gestión has already been informed to determine the origin of the spill.
It is not the first time that the same beach has been closed due to contamination. On May 4, a sewage spill also forced its closure for four days. Consortium sources told Agencia EFE that the spills were due to a problem originating at the pumping station. The beach was reopened to the public on May 7 after obtaining the corresponding analyses.
