One person arrested in Los Mármoles for tobacco smuggling

The Civil Guard and Customs Surveillance agents arrested a man of German nationality this Thursday afternoon in the port of Los Mármoles, in Arrecife, accused of a crime of tobacco smuggling. This person was traveling by boat from Gran Canaria to Huelva and was arrested at the ferry stop in Lanzarote, in a joint operation by the Benemérita and Customs Surveillance.

When the ship docked on the island, the agents carried out an inspection and found that this man was carrying more than 2,500 cartons of tobacco, as confirmed by the Civil Guard.

This large quantity of tobacco was hidden in a false bottom of the motorhome, which he had boarded on the ferry.

The detainee was placed at the disposal of the court, according to these same sources.
