The Civil Guard has clarified several robberies committed in villas and tourist homes that have been carried out in different parts of the island of Lanzarote since July of last year 2022, the alleged perpetrator being a 40-year-old man with numerous police records.
The first actions were carried out as a result of the arrest by the Local Police of Yaiza who surprised a man after the alarm in a house, observing how the pattern used in the robbery, forced entry of accesses when the residents were absent, was repeated in different vacation homes in the area.
Based on the principle of police collaboration, the Civil Guard carried out police investigations in the vicinity of the house that later led the Civil Guard to locate a vehicle, inside which a fanny pack containing the detainee's documentation could be recovered.
Once the first actions were carried out by the Local Police of Yaiza, the Civil Guard continued with the corresponding police proceedings that would accompany the detainee in his being placed at the disposal of the corresponding court of duty, which ordered his imprisonment, given the circumstance that he had already served several years for facts of the same nature, being at that time at liberty.
Continuation of the investigation, location, entry and search of the warehouse of stolen objects.
However, the Civil Guard continued with the investigation within the framework of the "Operation Dildo", analyzing the criminal acts and making a detailed follow-up, they were able to locate a house that was used as a warehouse to store the objects stolen in the different robberies and thus hinder their location.
Therefore, after carrying out several checks, the Civil Guard carried out an entry and search in which part of the electronic devices such as laptops, tablets, e-books, consoles, photography devices such as a reflex camera with several lenses, jewelry, household items, which had been reported in different robberies, whose total approximate value is 85,600 euros, could be recovered. In addition, in this action 7,880 euros in cash were seized, in fractional money, presumably the result of the sale of effects not found by the agents and reported in their day, such as high-end watches and brand jewelry.
Inquiries about the origin of the recovered objects
The Civil Guard analyzed all the complaints of the last 18 months related to everything seized in the registry, in addition to carrying out an analysis of the documentation, being able to determine the alleged incrimination of the same in several crimes against property, mainly in the area of Playa Blanca, up to a total of 8 robberies, as well as in other tourist areas of the island, such as Puerto del Carmen, where up to 5 criminal acts are clarified.
The recovered effects have been recognized by their legitimate owners, after an extensive period of interviews with the complainants who reside mostly outside of Spain. According to the study carried out in this investigation, the detainee had been committing robberies, of which there is documentary evidence, in different parts of the island since May of last year 2022, being illicit acts that had created great social alarm among resident citizens and tourists, who after having recognized their stolen effects, have shown their gratitude to the Civil Guard, detecting after these actions a significant decrease in this type of criminal acts.
