A man was injured around 5 a.m. this Thursday after his vehicle went off the road on the LZ-40 highway, near Puerto del Carmen
The CECOES was alerted by an automatic eCall from the vehicle itself. Emergency Consortium personnel, Local Police, Civil Guard, and a Canary Islands Emergency Service ambulance were dispatched to the scene.
Upon the firefighters' arrival, the accident scene was already secured by officers from the Local Police and the Civil Guard, both Rural and Traffic divisions. The car was off the road, resting on its wheels, with its roof collapsed and one person trapped in the driver's seat.
Following an initial risk assessment and in coordination with the healthcare personnel of the Canary Emergency Service (SUC), it was decided to perform the extraction of the injured person using the "zero angle" technique through the trunk. To do this, firefighters removed the tailgate and worked on the back of the rear seat with hydraulic extrication tools.
Once freed, the injured man was transferred by a medicalized ambulance to the Molina Orosa hospital.
