Nine young people arrested on charges of robbery with violence, injuries and coercion after the Punta Mujeres festival

The Civil Guard of Costa Teguise has arrested nine people, all of Spanish nationality and residents of Lanzarote, as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of robbery with violence and intimidation, injuries and coercion committed in the town of Punta Mujeres, in Haría. One of the alleged perpetrators is a minor and the rest are between 18 and 23 years old, according to a statement from the Civil Guard.

The investigation began as a result of the complaint, which was formalized in the Civil Guard of Costa Teguise, for events that occurred in the early morning of September 7, after the celebration of a festival on the occasion of the festivities of the town of Punta Mujeres. A group of young people allegedly assaulted a couple to steal the woman's bag.

The agents carried out the appropriate investigations and inquiries to clarify the facts and proceeded to arrest between September 8 and 12 of 9 people for being the alleged perpetrators of three crimes.

The complainant presented contusions throughout his body and a fracture of the fibula of his left leg, according to the Civil Guard. Therefore, the alleged perpetrators are charged with the crimes of robbery with violence, injuries and coercion for the aforementioned events.

The detainees, together with the initiated proceedings, have been placed at the disposal of the corresponding Court on duty of the town of Arrecife, in the case of adults, and of the Prosecutor's Office for Minors in the case of the minor.
