The Arrecife City Council has increased surveillance in the face of the continuous uncivil attitudes of residents who dump debris anywhere in the municipality, according to the Councilor for Cleaning, Jacobo Lemes, on the program Buenos Días, Lanzarote of Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero.

Recently, the Local Police fined two companies and an individual after being caught throwing away cans of paint, furniture and debris. The agents have fined those responsible for "a major crime". "It is more serious than throwing debris or furniture, paint is much more harmful to the environment", revealed the councilor of the capital's Consistory. The money that the culprits will have to pay reaches up to 30,000 euros. "The amount varies depending on whether you are a repeat offender", Lemes pointed out.

The Local Police recalled this Monday on their social networks that there are three categories to classify the sanctions. On the one hand, minor infractions, with fines ranging from a simple warning to 3,005.06 euros. In the case of serious infractions, with fines ranging between 3,005.06 and 30,050.60 euros. Finally, very serious infractions, which correspond to a sanction from 30,050.60 to 60,101.21 euros.

Lemes has expressed his indignation before the radio microphones for the "irresponsible attitudes" of the citizens of the capital. "We have a lot of incivility in Arrecife", "we have lost respect for our city", he complained very annoyed.

Finally, the councilor "does not understand" the reasons why all kinds of waste and belongings are left in the streets throughout the city, "there are free services such as the clean point to take them".
