Emergency services had to intervene again this Monday in the Los Charcones area, in the municipality of Yaiza, after the rescue of four people who were swept away by a wave while they were on the coast.

According to the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium, the alert was received at 11:55 AM, reporting that several bathers had been hit by a wave and dragged inland. Ultimately, the affected individuals managed to get out of the water on their own, although they presented various injuries.

Firefighters from the Lanzarote Consortium collaborated with the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), as the area is difficult for medical resources to access.

As a result of the incident, two men, aged 25 and 43, suffered minor multiple contusions and were transferred by ambulance to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife. A third affected person, aged 23, presented with minor abrasions and was taken by firefighters to the Playa Blanca Health Center. A woman accompanying them was unharmed and did not require medical transport

This new episode once again highlights the danger of Los Charcones, an area frequented by tourists and where numerous rescues have already occurred in recent years due to strong waves and lack of surveillance.
