Minor injured after jumping into water and hitting head in Puerto del Carmen

Volunteers from Civil Protection of Tías, two ambulances from SUC, and agents from the Local Police moved to the location.

Civil Protection attended on Friday afternoon a 14-year-old minor who suffered a strong blow to the head when he jumped into the water from a height between Playa Grande and Playa Chica, in Puerto del Carmen, as confirmed by the CECOES to La Voz.

After being alerted by the CECOES 112 around 6:41 p.m., Civil Protection went to the scene with two paramedics who collaborated with the Basic Life Support (SVB) and Advanced Life Support (SVA) units of the SUC in attending to the affected person.

After being stabilized, he was transferred by ambulance to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital with a moderate traumatic brain injury.

Local Police officers from Tías also participated in the intervention.

The entity reminds the public of the importance of exercising extreme caution on beaches and bathing areas. Before jumping into the water, it is essential to check the depth and conditions of the place.
