A man had to be rescued this Sunday, January 4, after suffering an indisposition while at the summit of a mountain near Costa Teguise. The alert was received at 12:51 PM, when the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (CECOES) alerted the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium that a person was experiencing palpitations and dizziness, was vomiting, and was unable to walk, thus requesting assistance.
Consortium personnel were dispatched to the location, and upon arrival, they confirmed that agents from the Teguise Local Police and an ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) were already at the road near the mountain where the affected person was. The firefighters drove the all-terrain vehicle as far as possible and continued on foot until they located the man.
Once at the summit, emergency services confirmed that the patient was stable and had good oxygen saturation, although he could not get up on his own. After informing the CECOES of the situation, he was evacuated using a rescue stretcher, first descending to the all-terrain vehicle and then to the road.
He was transferred there to the SUC ambulance for transport to Molina Orosa Hospital
