A 60-year-old man was injured after falling into a pit about three meters deep in Playa Blanca, according to the Emergency Consortium. The accident took place on Calle Suiza, in the Shangrila residential area of the tourist town.
Upon receiving the alert, the Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) dispatched Local Police officers, two ambulances, one basic life support and another advanced life support from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), as well as firefighters.
When emergency services arrived, they found that the affected person, a native of Gran Canaria and resident of Playa Blanca, was complaining of severe hip painThe firefighters proceeded to immobilize him on a cave rescue stretcher to subsequently hoist him to the surface with the collaboration of healthcare personnel and the Local PoliceOnce on the street, the man was placed on a vacuum mattress and transported by ambulance to the Dr. José Molina Orosa Hospital.
