The young man from Lanzarote, Roberto Hernández Rodríguez, died on Thursday afternoon in a work accident in the construction sector. "From VMRM System we want to express our sincere condolences to his family and friends," published a company linked to the world of motorsport hours after the event. The young man, known as "El Pollo", was very linked to this sport, having participated in various rallies as a driver.
His death occurred around 6:00 p.m., while he was working in an aggregate extraction quarry located in Güime, as confirmed by 112. According to the Civil Guard, the death of the young driver, who was 30 years old, was caused by a "crushing", when "heavy machinery" fell on him. Several agents and paramedics in two ambulances from the Canary Emergency Service and personnel from the health center went there. However, upon arrival they could only certify his death. In addition to rallies and motorcycles, another of his passions was the sea. He is currently training in the Asturian town of Gijón to become an agent of the Civil Guard.
