The Civil Guard of Agüimes has investigated a person for an alleged crime against privacy, in its modality of discovery and revelation of secrets, after the illicit access to audiovisual material of sensitive nature.

The events took place in a dwelling located on a street in the town of Ingenio, where the victim used to leave an electronic device of their property for personal reasons. According to the investigation, the now investigated, taking advantage of his previous relationship with the victim, would have managed to access the terminal

Despite the files being protected in a folder under a security key, the alleged perpetrator managed to bypass this technical barrier to transfer the intimate material to his own mobile phone.

The alert was raised when a close acquaintance of the victim discovered, accidentally, the existence of these images and videos in the investigated person's photo gallery. In said gallery not only were found files of the complainant and her current partner, but indications of the existence of similar material belonging to other women were observed, which raised concern about a possible pattern of criminal behavior.

After the filing of the complaint last at the beginning of the month of March in police facilities, the Civil Guard activated an immediate action protocol. The specialization of the investigators in crimes of technological nature and against the freedom and privacy of individuals allowed for a meticulous analysis of the facts.

The key line of the investigation focused on the traceability of access to the device and the unequivocal identification of the alleged perpetrator en the municipality of Agüimes, where his location was proceeded to.

The swiftness of the agents has been fundamental to secure the evidentiary material before it could be eliminated or, what is more serious, disseminated through social networks or instant messaging applications, a suspicion that the victim held due to the manipulative profile of the investigated person and his habit of exchanging this type of content with third parties.

The instructed proceedings have been placed at the disposal of the duty court of Telde, giving transfer of all that was acted upon for the continuation of the judicial process for the alleged commission of a crime of discovery and revelation of secrets.

Non-consensual access to a person's most private sphere constitutes a traumatic violation of their privacy that generates deep psychological consequences, such as anxiety disorders, helplessness, and a constant feeling of vulnerability. In the digital age, the ease of virally spreading sensitive content exponentially multiplies the harm, potentially destroying victims' reputation and social life in a matter of seconds. Police action in these cases not only seeks the punishment of the culprit, but also the containment of a latent social risk that violates the most basic fundamental rights of citizens.
