The National Police have arrested eight people in the Canary Islands, including three members of the force, including the inspector who began the investigation of the Mediador case on alleged corruption, Francisco Moar, now retired.
Sources close to the investigation have informed EFE of these arrests in an operation that remains open and is being carried out by Internal Affairs under the direction of a court in Arona (Tenerife), which has declared the proceedings secret.
Among the crimes attributed to them are drug trafficking, money laundering, criminal organization, bribery and document forgery.
Of the three police officers, one is active and the other two are retired, including Moar, who was once chief inspector of the Provincial Brigade of the Judicial Police of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Moar was removed from the Mediador case after reporting the theft of the mobile phones from which the messages, conversations and data contained in the investigation file were extracted.
The decision to remove him was made by the then chief provincial commissioner of the Police in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Luis Felipe San Martín, who is now suspended from service after being denounced for a crime of gender violence against his partner.
The complaint against the chief commissioner was filed by Francisco Moar himself, after gaining access to a USB stick with a video recorded by the victim.
