The Civil Guard has managed to identify and arrest the alleged skipper of the drug boat that arrived this Thursday at Famara beach with 116 kilos of hashish. The Civil Guard accuses him of a crime against the rights of foreign citizens and he has already been brought to justice this Friday, as confirmed by the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC)

According to the Civil Guard, the person arrested as the alleged skipper of the boat responds to the initials M.E.J as he himself has stated, since he was undocumented. Like the rest of the immigrants who came on the boat, he is an adult male of Maghreb origin. The testimony of the rest of the occupants of the boat is what has allowed his identification.

It should be remembered that the Civil Guard and Local Police managed to intercept a total of 13 immigrants, although "due to the dimensions of the boat, it cannot be ruled out that more came", according to the Civil Guard. Two of them, however, were not on the boat, but were in the vehicle that was picking up the immigrants and the drugs. These two men have also been brought to justice, in this case for alleged drug trafficking, along with four other detainees.

It was at around 9:30 a.m. this Thursday when a citizen alerted the security and emergency services to the arrival of the boat to the Papelillo area of Famara Beach. They also reported the presence of the vehicle that was picking up the immigrants.

After that, the Civil Guard and Local Police launched a joint operation, managing to intercept 13 immigrants, one of whom had to be transferred to the Molina Orosa Hospital after suffering a broken arm. As for the drugs, it was reported this Thursday that it amounted to 100 kilos of hashish, but now the Civil Guard has confirmed that it was 116.
