During the preventive service organized on the occasion of the Puerto del Carmen Carnivals, the NGO Emerlan had a total of twelve interventions, among which several assistances for alcohol intoxication, brawls and minor cures stand out, according to the emergency assistance organization itself.
Within the device, Emerlan allocated three ambulances with a total of nine volunteers who worked during the development of the Float Parade of the tourist town of Puerto del Carmen in the municipality of Tías and the subsequent verbena that took place on the Avenida de las Playas in the urban nucleus.
In addition, the NGO has reported that on Sunday, February 10, the lifeguard on duty at Los Pocillos Beach in Puerto del Carmen attended first, around 11:30 am, to an elderly Norwegian bather, after observing obvious signs of fatigue. Thus, given the seriousness appreciated by the First Aid technician, he requested the presence of a medicalized ambulance from the Canary Emergency Service (SUC), who, despite resuscitation maneuvers, could only certify his death.
On the other hand, due to the downpour that fell during Sunday afternoon, which especially affected the Playa Blanca area, Emerlan was required to join the emergency operation arranged in the area. Thus, the NGO mobilized a rescue vehicle and another assistance vehicle, a motor pump and 10 volunteers, who at 8:30 p.m. were still carrying out drainage work in one of the flooded buildings.
