The Civil Guard is investigating a driver as the alleged perpetrator of two crimes against road safety: reckless driving and driving without a license, after being involved in a serious incident on March 13 on the LZ-301 road, in the municipality of Güime-San Bartolomé.
According to the investigated facts, the individual engaged in reckless and erratic driving, repeatedly invading the opposite lane for several kilometers, putting other road users at serious risk. Eventually, he lost control of the vehicle, leaving the road and falling into a field, where the car suffered significant damage. After the accident, the driver fled the scene on foot.
Thanks to the investigations of the Arrecife Traffic Accident Investigation Team, the alleged perpetrator was identified, who has never had a driver's license. In addition, it was learned that, after the accident, he arrived at a nearby workplace with injuries and visibly agitated, which alerted another witness who also called 112.
The suspect faces prison sentences of up to two years for reckless driving, with disqualification from driving for between one and six years, and three to six months in prison or a fine for driving without a license. The proceedings have already been sent to the Court of Instruction No. 3 of Arrecife.
