Agents of the National Police arrested a man in Arrecife on August 31, as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of assault and robbery with violence, committed days earlier in the capital.

The events took place in the early morning of August 20, when the alleged perpetrator allegedly approached another man with the intention of taking his mobile phone. During the assault, the detainee allegedly assaulted the victim by headbutting him several times, causing him facial injuries and a nasal fracture.

Next, he allegedly attempted to assault him with a bladed weapon on the thigh, with the victim managing to prevent the weapon from directly hitting him, although the object did tear his trousers. After the assault, the alleged perpetrator finally managed to take the mobile phone and leave the scene.

Due to the injuries sustained, the victim had to be attended to by health services.

The investigation to clarify the events and identify the perpetrator was carried out by the Specialized and Violent Crime Unit of the Local Police Station of Arrecife. Thanks to the investigations carried out, the agents managed to identify the alleged perpetrator, who was known in the town and had numerous police records and had been previously arrested four times this year for crimes against persons and property.

Once located, he was arrested on August 31 and taken to police facilities for the corresponding proceedings. Subsequently, an identification parade was held in judicial headquarters, and once the police proceedings were completed, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority, who ordered his imprisonment.
