The Lanzarote Rescue and Emergency Service (Emerlan) has rescued a man who fractured his hip after having an accident with a bicycle in La Graciosa. The events occurred after 11.30 in the morning, when Emerlan received the notice about a bicycle fall on Las Conchas beach. After learning that the injured man had fractured his hip, they activated the emergency protocol for his care and evacuation.
After their arrival, they assessed the patient and requested the intervention of the helicopter, since the land transfer was not the best option due to the conditions of the terrain. Thus, they coordinated with the medical team of the island, who went to the place together with the firemen colleagues.
The paramedics administered analgesia, immobilized him and the injured man was transferred to the Health Center. From there, he was evacuated by sea to Lanzarote, where he was received by an ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service at 3:35 p.m.
The joint intervention took place between Emerlan, the health team of La Graciosa and the Canary Islands Emergency Service.
