Civil Guard C.A.T.A. has been found guilty of two of the events that were imputed to him and that led him to the dock for a continued crime of embezzlement of public funds. This agent was accused of having kept cocaine, hashish and marijuana that the Benemérita de Teguise seized in various operations in Lanzarote. After the verdict issued this Thursday by the popular jury, now it will be the judge who dictates the sentence and establishes the penalties.
The Prosecutor's Office, represented during the hearing by prosecutor Ignacio Stampa, requested for this agent 2 years and 3 months in prison, in addition to the suspension of employment or public office for two years and a fine of 15 euros a day for three months and fifteen days. However, this Thursday the prosecutor has agreed to reduce the prison request to one year and 9 months, which would mean that he does not enter prison if he has no criminal record.
T. was specifically accused of having kept the drug seized in various operations, carried out both on the street and in leisure centers on the island. Now, after the trial held in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria last Monday and Tuesday, the jury considers proven two of the four facts for which he was accused.
