Agents of the Local Police of Arrecife, who were carrying out citizen security prevention services in that area of the city, arrested two men this Wednesday for a brawl stemming from a family dispute in the capital.

It was the witnesses to the fight who alerted the Local Police. Upon arriving at the scene, the witnesses informed the agents of the altercation that had occurred a few minutes earlier between the two men, stating that "both had threatened each other while carrying knives and making gestures of attempting to attack each other with them on repeated occasions." A woman at the scene tried to separate the two men, but without success.

The witnesses told the Local Police agents that "the knives with which they were attacking each other were of a metallic style, completely gray, and the one carried by the other man, (providing physical characteristics) was of similar dimensions with a dark-colored handle."

The witnesses pointed out to the agents that one of those men left the scene in a van (providing descriptions that have allowed his subsequent location by the Local Police), which was driven by another person who was waiting for one of the aggressors. The other left the scene on foot.

The Local Police conducted a sweep of the area and managed to locate a man who matched the description provided by the witnesses. Following this, a security pat-down was performed, and the seized knife was found on his ankle. He freely and voluntarily admitted to the agents "that what the witnesses had stated was true."

The investigation by the Local Police, following the testimony of the witnesses and the acknowledgment of the facts by the alleged perpetrators, led to the arrest of both individuals. The Local Police ascertained, from what was related by the witnesses and detainees, that "the two men intended to attack each other" due to a family dispute.

Around 9:00 PM this Wednesday, Local Police agents transferred the detainees to the National Police Station for their presentation to the Judicial Authority. At that appearance, the detainees verbally stated their identifications, as they were not carrying documentation. One of the detainees was previously transferred by local agents to a Health Center in Arrecife for a medical evaluation.

The rapid action of the local agents of Arrecife, plus the call from witnesses to the Police Central, prevented the aggression from escalating.
