A bather was rescued on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 30, after finding himself in distress about 50 meters from the coast of Papagayo beach, in the municipality of Yaiza. The incident occurred at approximately 2:02 p.m. and mobilized several emergency services.

The Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security (CECOES) 1-1-2 received an alert reporting that a man was having difficulty returning to shore. From the coast, they managed to get him a life preserver tied to a rope, with which he was able to reach a nearby cove, saving himself by his own means.

Personnel from the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium traveled to the scene, assisting the affected individual and transferring him to a basic life support ambulance from the Canary Emergency Service (SUC). The healthcare personnel carried out an initial assessment in which it was found that the man had minor abrasions, and he was subsequently transferred to the Playa Blanca Health Center.

The Yaiza Local Police also intervened, collaborating in the operation and instructing proceedings for the event.
