The Civil Guard of Puerto de la Luz and Customs Surveillance of the Tax Agency in Las Palmas, arrested on January 30 a person for a crime against public health for drug trafficking, who was transporting 8.7 kilograms of hashish in the trunk of a vehicle hidden inside a backpack 90 tablets that was traveling on a passenger ship from Lanzarote to Gran Canaria.
The intervention was the result of the surveillance and service carried out by the agents of the Fiscal and Border Section of the Port of Light for the control of vehicles, travelers and their respective luggage, during the disembarkation of a ship of vehicles and passengers from the island of Lanzarote to Gran Canaria.
In the development of the preventive control, the Civil Guard carried out a random selection of passengers and vehicles that, given their experience in this type of operations, were particularly struck by the attitude of a driver, who, given the signs and evidence of nervousness, proceeded to his identification, in addition the dog specialized in drug detection, insisted strongly and before the questions asked by the agents, the driver admitted that he was carrying a large amount of drug.
Therefore, an inspection of the trunk was carried out, locating a backpack with 90 tablets inside. Each of them contained a brown resinous substance, wrapped in transparent plastic, giving off the strong characteristic smell of hashish. Many of them had an anagram "shahrukh khan"; apparently the variation of hashish.
Once the drug was seized, they carried out the appropriate checks of the 'narcotest', resulting in a positive result in cannabis, and throwing all this a weight of 8.7 kilograms.
The police proceedings, the detainee and the substance seized were placed at the disposal of the Investigating Court of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, decreeing provisional imprisonment.
